ABOUT THE AUTHOR

His father an army ranger, his mother a registered nurse; the tug of war between the poles demanded some serious soul searching. Al took a road less traveled and would be the first to admit he got lost now and then along the way, at times intentionally. An out of body experience at an early age set the stage for looking at the world in a more than ordinary way, (one could call it a sense of reality that keeps skewing itself,) as well as bred an interest in the paranormal. His aching question: How much of man fits into the universe and vice versa?

His B.A. in General Studies at UT in Arlington, TX, (A program he termed a Philology Degree; philosophy, psychology, criminal justice) was the first formal quest for answers. A semester abroad infected him with the travel bug for which he found there is no cure. It was the ten-year stint overseas in a unique close quarters combat training program under the Chief Instructor for Taiwan’s SWAT Team which was most influential on his cognitive, physical and spiritual development. Here he learned to organize thought, nurture the creative spark, categorize the imperatives of life and begin bridging the split in his soul. He achieved cosmic consciousness at 4:44pm on an August day in 1997. Consequently, due to unforeseen responsibilities, he elected to omit it all from memory later that very evening.

His experience in many walks of life has laid a foundation for animating the environments he constructs on paper. His incessant dreaming (both nightly odysseys and daily musings) provide ample clay with which he sculpts his great escapes.

Born in Detroit, Mi, Alan presently lives with his soul mate, Shelley, and their daughter, Vala, in Denison, TX on a small horse ranch. Those who know him are quick to profess that he is not from this world; he’d say he’s just passing thru. If he died tomorrow, he’d leave one pearl of wisdom; spend not a single moment chasing somebody else’s dream.

Finally, he finds writing about himself in the third person an easy task considering the number of voices in his head.
